MY FAVE VEGAN COOKBOOKS!

Hello, dear readers. This is a pretty epic post, that, in my mind anyway, has been a long time coming! Today I wanna share my favourite cookbook titles with you. This collection is tried and true, according to my humble perspective. I get mailed a lot of cookbooks to review, and it's been this way for almost 8 years. After all my testing, behold: the best of the best.

JUICY CLEANSE 2015: DAY THREE (THE END)

We're done! The three days went by really fast and I think I have solved the issue of my skin rash (which was the goal of this whole cleanse in the first place). I THINK it's because ever since I started eating high carb (around a year ago) I ate WAY more fruit. I'm talkin' like 8 bananas in my smoothies, 5 mangoes as a snack... ya'll know what my diet has looked like in the past year or so. Just look on my Instagram. Now, I have never listened to those folks who are like, "You need to restrict fruit, it has too much sugar!" I have just scoffed at them and kept eating my watermelon - the whole thing. But maybe it's time I listened.

JUICY CLEANSE 2015: DAY TWO

Another day, another juice.

Today went pretty well. My skin is looking really good, and since the aim of this whole cleanse is to heal this weird rash around my nose and rebalance my gut flora, I'm happy about that. I am so glad I don't care about being strict with "cleanses" anymore. I remember a few years ago when I did a 10-day juice fast (you can find it on my blog) and I was crazy restrictive. I think a motivation for doing that juice fast had remnants of my disordered eating from the past, but this time there's none of that. I am not doing this to lose weight or any other sh*tty reason that doesn't matter. I am doing it to feel good.

JUICE CLEANSE 2015: DAY ONE

My babes! I got some news! Jack (my lover) and I are doing a juice cleanse for around 3 days, or whenever we feel like stopping. We started yesterday. Neither of us are too strict so we're also consuming raw fresh fruit if we feel like it, veggie broth with seaweed, chia seeds and banana ice cream. The point of this cleanse is to refresh our digestive systems. More on this below. I will be posting all the recipes we consume so you can join in! I'd love it if you did because it's more fun to share experiences like this than doing it alone, and I know a lot of you are into juice cleansing. So if you do wanna join, I encourage you to post your comments below, or on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to let the rest of us know how you're doing.

THE MOST EXCITING NEWS!!! + A RECIPE

PREORDER:
*hard copy and Kindle version available

Ahhhhh I am so excited! I got my hard copy of my brand-new cookbook, 100 Best Juices, Smoothies and Healthy Snacks, in the mail a few months ago and squealed for two days straight. Now I want to share my book with you! I've already shared the news of my new book a few times but I want to write another post about the thing because I want YOU to know all about it! If you have any interest in making more smoothies and/or juices, or even just raw, gluten-free, vegan snacks - you gotta pre-order da book. Wink wink. Nudge nudge. It is FULL of giant colour photos (all taken by me) and 100 recipes for smoothies, juices and healthy snacks (big surprise). There are savoury smoothies (aka raw soups), sweet smoothies, savoury juices, sweet juices, mylkshakes, nut mylks, and everything in between! The best part is it's super affordable. Only $15 or so! Although if you're not in North America (and I know many of you are not) it'll be around $20. Still a fair price, I gotta say, since this book is my heart and soul on paper. Honestly, I feel like my past two cookbooks are like my babies... until I think about that critically for a second and realize all the fundamental differences. Moving on.

I AM HOSTING ANOTHER VEGAN POTLUCK IN VANCOUVER!

What: Vegan meet-up/potluck for good times and good food!
When: Saturday Nov. 1, 2014 at 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Where: East Van, email me [emilyvoneuw at gmail dot com] for address

Yes! It's true! The last one went so well that I basically HAVE to make it a tradition. Come one, come all! As long as you bring an open mind, positive attitude and - preferably - a delicious, wholesome vegan dish - you will be welcomed with enthusiasm! Invite your friends and family, and anyone you know who is interested in healthier and/or more compassionate living. Hey, even if they AREN'T interested, they will probably still have a great evening! We will be meeting in the same gorgeous spot as last time so if you went to my last potluck, you already know where to go for this one! If you didn't go to the last one, please email me to get the address.

The last potluck was sooo fun and exciting for me, and I'm pretty confident everyone else had a good time too. I met so many amazing people that I hope to make long term friends out of, and I basically ate myself into veggie Nirvana. (Can we all take a moment to remember that creamy LASAGNA!?) There ended up being around 30 people and a table FULL of amazing dishes (dinner and dessert!) And the party didn't stop until midnight (although from now on the potlucks need to end a wee bit earlier because some people must work). There were people from all over the world and it was fun to hear the different accents and personal stories. I wanna make the potluck even bigger this time, so all the vegans in Vancouver can have a place to go every month to connect with like-minded peeps and enjoy outta-this-world tasty healthy food together! That's right: I wanna make this a monthly or bi-monthly thing!

This potluck is a joint effort between me, Zoe the wonderful vegan rock star who is letting us use her beautiful home, the gorgeous raw dessert chef Heather Pace from Sweetly Raw, and Steph the exquisite high carb vegan Instagram celebrity (@happyandhealthy96)! Come to mingle, come to eat, come to dance, come to participate in some uber stimulating conversation! I'll be playing some funky tunes on the good ole iPod to keep the vibes ridin' high. I wish I had taken more photos from last time (seriously, the three I show here are the ONLY ones captured) but I was having such a great time I didn't wanna stop to document it. I hope to see you there if you can make it!

I WROTE ANOTHER BOOK! (AND IT'S AVAILABLE NOW FOR $15)

Hey, guys. Guess what. I wrote another book!

"Wow, I wasn't expecting THAT after reading the title."

Okay fair enough, that was a lame surprise. But still! I am so excited! Let me tell you about the cookbook. It is called 100 Best Juices, Smoothies & Healthy Snacks and it is just that! I give you 100 recipes for the best juices, smoothies, nut milks, energy bars and easy vegan snacks. All there recipes are vegan, gluten-free and soy-free. And with the exception of some savoury smoothie recipes (think of them as soups) where some veggies need to be steamed, all the recipes are RAW too! There is a full page colour photo for every recipe (all photos are taken by me, as per usual) and I think they are some of the best pictures I have done yet. I am really proud of this cookbook and I cannot wait for you to get it in your hands and start making healthy, wholesome, vegan delights in the kitchen!

my e-book has arrived!

Well it technically never "arrived" because it is online and not physical - but you get what I'm saying. My newest e-book is complete and ready to be viewed by your beautiful and eager eyes. I put a lot of thought, work, time and love into this thing so if you choose to purchase it (yes, please) I truly hope you like it. In this e-book there's a few never-before-seen recipes like raw Chocolate Cake with Fudge Icing & Vanilla Cashew Cream... who doesn't want that!?

As my blog continues to increase in popularity I am realizing this could become my actual job! I never thought I would be able to do this for a living but if things keep going the way they are, it is a possibility. Of course I am no where near that point yet, but I see an exponential pattern.

I want to thank all of you for supporting me this entire time and encouraging me to keep growing my website and sharing recipes. You make it worth while! If I can spend my time creating recipes, photographing them and sharing them with you instead of trudging to a conventional job every day - that would be my dream come true. I love what I do on This Rawsome Vegan Life and with your support I hope I will be able to continue doing this for the rest of my days. SO THANK YOU! If you have any problems getting your e-book, please contact me. My email is emilyvoneuw@gmail.com.
Much love! Em
