It's a sweet life, being a relatively popular blogger: I get swag (although it's up for debate whether or not I HAVE swag... hashtag swag). I'll stop now.

Today I'm reviewing a couple products I've been lucky enough to be sent, by two equally cool companies. I think in the times of today - where media, politics and the economy are controlled by a handful of giant corporations who's only motivation is dollar signs - it is of primary importance that we vote with our wallet and choose to support companies and people who care about the real well-being of others and the environment. Here are a couple examples.

First, I need to rave about deodorant. Years ago, after learning about the toxic horrors of mainstream deodorant; I immediately started buying aluminum-free, natural brands (although keep in mind a lot of those can't be trusted either). The same thing happened with toothpaste and shampoo. Then, I progressed further into naturopathic/hippie land and began making my OWN deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo.

For toothpaste, I simply dip my brush in water and then baking soda and go at it. For shampoo and conditioner, I just use baking soda and apple cider vinegar. For deodorant, I whipped together a blend of coconut oil, baking soda and essential oils to make me smell delicious and fresh. You know I do.

Then I learned of a company called North Coast Organics that sells exactly what I make at home. Seriously - the ingredients list is identical. Bonus: the deodorant comes in an adorable little container and I get to support an amazing, compassionate, sustainability-focused company by buying it! I don't have to make my own anymore! I have been using what they sent me (the mini ones) for weeks now and I will say this: I've been quite intimate with a few people and I have only received compliments on my irresistible scent. MWAHAHA. Oh, coconut oil: what can't you do? Buy some. For realz.

Next product up for review is a blend of "superfood proteins" from a classy organization based in Cali called Beaming. They're all about clean, organic, happy living... and I dig that. I also dig the protein blend! Or rather, I sip it. It's fabulous in green smoothies and packs a serious nutritional punch. It's an excellent addition to my post-workout meal. Check out all the life-giving ingredients in the pic below (under those sexy kale leaves...mmm, kale).

It makes my smoothies taste like vanilla and cinnamon because the blend is flavoured with them. Duh. Anyway - this makes for one delicious drink and keeps me focused and energized for hours. My body sings! No - it BEAMS! See what I did there? Who wants whey when you can have toxin-free, unrefined, natural, plant-based goodness!? Nobody I know. Buy it here

I also make my own toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc! I use that recipe for my deodorant, too!! It's the best! But honestly, how could you resist the cute packaging of these deodorants.

I have a question regarding the North Coast deodorant. It contains Carnauba wax, derived from the Carnauba Palm leaf, which is found in the Brazilian rainforest. With all of the bad press surrounding Palm-based products lately, is this yet another way in which we are destroying the Brazilian rainforests? I make my own natural deodorant, and only contains coconut oil (at this time is known to be far more sustainable than palm oil), baking soda, arrow root powder, and tea tree oil. The only drawback is that it does soften a bit in the summer months. I then just store it in the fridge and take it out a few minutes before I use it.

I'm certain you have tried antiperspirants that inhaled good going on however when temperatures started to ascent the once new odor turned rotten. That won’t happen with this antiperspirant. I feel I may as well say that this is not an antiperspirant. You will still sweat but you won’t stink.

I have a question about rinsing your hair with the vinegar. I read the directions in the link. When she says rinse, does she mean rinse and leave it? Or do you run your hair under water again?

Rinse it out with water :)

Dear Lynn,

Nathan from North Coast Organics here. We really appreciate your concern about palm and writing about it. We only use organic, sustainably grown carnauba wax. So we are not contributing to the destruction of rainforests.

The same argument about palm, can be made about many other tropical items like coconut & bananas. To ensure that rainforests are not being harmed, one should buy their coconut oil, palm oil, etc from sustainable, organic farms.

We do make a deodorant with no wax as well. However, it will never be a mainstream, consumer product due to the rigid, widespread 'deodorant paradigm'.

To answer your question, North Coast Organics does not contributie to the destruction of Brazilian rainforests.

Thanks for posting this!

My husband and are active - we usually get a run in first thing in the morning, and often times we go for another run in the evening. My husband is a naturally stinky guy and he's tried a lot of different underarm and foot deodorants. One brand we recently came across was Lavilin - www.lavilin.com

One of the employees at Whole Foods saw us reading the packaging and told us she's tried every brand on that shelf, and Lavilin beats them all. We figured we'd give it a shot and wow, are we happy we did! I'll apply it once a week, my husband 2-4 times a week. We have both the feet and underarm creams. Effective and smells great!

Great article with great suggestions! I've tried many homemade remedies, but in the end I'd rather go with a natural deodorant also. Lavilin's my favorite! Awesome product and safe! Love it!

I'm glad you have already been enjoying those merchandise - it's we've similar taste! The Airbrush Legs square measure merely a lotion (though a twig on version is to boot available) {that you|that you merely|that you just} simply rub on inside the mornings. certify to rub it in equally, and let it soak in before getting dressed. It's thought-about "body makeup/bronze" as a results of it helps hide scars/veins/etc, whereas to boot bronzing your legs instantly.

MMMMMM... I am trying my samples of this deodorant as we speak. I agree- the yummy scent lasts all day. I usually use antiperspirants ( I know I know..) and I have found it hard to switch to just deodorant, mainly due to the feel under the arms.. this stuff feels great so far:)
