This one's a beaut. Easy, filling, energy-giving deliciousness all in the form of a milkshake!? Can life get any better? The answer would be no, except that I am going to continue my spree of Disney movies tonight with The Emperor's New Groove... that's really the only improvement that can be made here.
This shake was my dinner yesterday, before one crazy night in 'da club'. It kept me dancing and smiling until 4 am. Sometimes when I go out to party I will have a beer or a glass of wine, but often I'll just chug water the entire night. I sweat my booty off the whole time so keeping hydrated is mandatory! Anyhoo, no matter what you're or doing - or when you're doing it - this is
banana date nut shake: serves... me
2 frozen bananas
1/2 cup dates (add according to your taste, I like things sweet)
1 tablespoon hemp seeds (optional)
1 tablespoon nut butter (optional)
Water or nut milk, as needed (1-2 cups probably)
Blend it all up. Feel free to add some cacao powder or whatever else you love. I like when there are chunks of dates in the shake because they are bite-sized happiness. Top off with cinnamon and nom it down. Or nom it up? I dunno. Just get it in you.

Now that's my kinda shake!!
That looks amazing Emily! I'm just like you! A filling fruit smoothie with great fats keeps me going all night at clubs ;) then water is my fuel for the rest of the booty shaking night. LOVE your blog. Please check out my newly created blog with all natural recipes :)
Hi Emily,
Really enjoying your blog, all the way from New Zealand. Amazing photography - that oozes your passion and gets me all fired up to ditch the dairy (already veggie) but becoming more and more interested in vegan raw stuff. Hard not to be watching what you create. Now, this may be a silly question but do you use just your normal dried dates or do you use those fresher softer, but more expensive medjool dates? Also, do you do wheatgrass in your blender? I don't have a blender but I have a great juicer that does wheatgrass. I'm thinking a blender would be good so I don't loose any fibre etc. Thanks and all the best, nic
Oh, my God! That sounds sooooo delicious! I need to try that tomorrow when I get back home. :)
And hi there, Emily! Your blog has become famous here in Finland. I've read it for few months and I have to say: your recipes look absolutely yummy! And the pictures are very pretty. You have inspired me in my kitchen. :) So thank you for sharing your ideas!

Beauty and the Beast, hands down my all-time favourite Disney film. Always puts me in a good mood :) This milkshake looks soooo good, I can see myself having this for breakfast or an afternoon snack.
[ Smiles ] Thank you for posting this fabulous vegan recipe!
Belle has got a mind of her own :) Thanks! x
Aww no way!? So much love for you guys! Thanks a lot xoxox
Hey! The type of dates I use varies... the giant juicy medjool ones are sooo great but like you said, they cost more too. So sometimes I'll use those, sometimes I will use the smaller, drier kinds.
Apparently wheat grass is best in juice form because it's nutrients are most easy to absorb. I found this article on it: http://www.incrediblesmoothies.com/green-smoothies/can-i-blend-wheatgrass-in-a-green-smoothie/
Anyway, the amount of fibre in a bit of wheatgrass isn't too important when you're eating high fibre foods the rest of the day :)
Yesss! :) Will do.
Right on, sista!
Is that a glass straw You are using?
If it is I would love to know where you got it!
Yes it is :D
