A COLD-BUSTIN SMOOTHIE


I have a head cold thing. My throat has been a tad swollen and sore for the past week, but I've been ignoring it and going dancing til 4am, getting tattoos and biking around instead of resting. Smart. So now the time has come where this sickness has morphed into something that can't be ignored. I'm stuffed up. My head aches. My throat is dry. I'm finally doin' what I maybe shoulda done a few days ago: cancelling my plans and staying home, drinking lots of fluids and trying to take it easy. Although, this mix is making it hard to sit still. I am going to watch Ru Paul's Drag Race all night long and keep chugging lemon water, tea, juice and perhaps have another lavender bath. Luxury, honey.

Anyways, I haven't posted anything in a few days and I haven't posted anything that isn't a super rich dessert type recipe in forEVER, so I figured I could share my morning smoothie with you in case some of y'all want a vitamin C boost, or simply a yummy drink idea. This recipe is packed with powerful foods: turmeric, ginger, beet, citrus, pineapple and cherries. Oh, and banana. (Sorry banana, I tend to forget about you, unless I'm making nice cream). It comes together in moments and made me feel a lot better when I started my day afternoon with it. My body needs all the help it can get right now. A COLD-BUSTIN SMOOTHIE 
[ serves one ]

Juice from 1 grapefruit
Juice from 1 lemon
Juice from 1 orange
1 banana
1 cup frozen cherries
1/2 cup pineapple
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup frozen beet

Blend it all up and drink it down.
