POWER SMOOTHIE with BERRIES, BEET + BANANA

Howdy hey howdy ho.

I don't know why I just typed that in but I'm going to leave it because I believe in being my authentic self or whatever.

I have been having the time of my life the past week! I've been going out dancing a ton, mostly by myself, but it's all good because I just have more room to shake it out and can leave whenever I like, or stay however long I want. I'm extremely selfish and have no shame about it: it makes plans so much easier when I only have to worry about me. I've also been enjoying going on lots of dates with new people (thank you, OKCupid, for making meeting other queer feminist vegans relatively convenient). Aaaand finally I think it's time for me to become more dedicated to showing up at protests and rallies for causes that matter. I went to a fundraiser for the Dakota Access pipeline protest last night and had a really inspiring time. There was one poet - Valeen Jules - who made me cry a bit, her words were so powerful and honest. She talked about decolonial love and it deeply resonated with me: decolonizing my life, perceptions and relationships is something I'm working on. I plan on going to a rally to protest the pipeline on Monday Did it, was rad. It's truly the least I can do. I hope you're all having safe and comfy days, doing things that make you feel fulfilled and satisfied. Onto smoothies! Here's a super simple drink to kickstart an energetic day, or for anytime!

This smoothie is nutritionally super-powered thanks to Vega One™, and veeery creamy thanks to Silk® almond milk. Healthy eating / drinking doesn't have to be complicated: in fact, I prefer keepin it basic ( I'm super lazy heeeyy ). When you start with a solid base of luscious almond milk from Silk and some nourishing Vega One mix, all you need to do is add some fresh and frozen fruits and veggies and you're good to go. Blend, live, love. I personally like unsweetened Silk because Vega One is already sweetened with stevia, and I add a lot of sweet fruits to my smoothies too. My favourite Vega One flavour is vanilla, because I'm just nuts for vanilla in any situation. IT'S NOT BORING, IT'S DELICIOUS. People need to appreciate the complexities of vanilla more, there's so much going on and yet it's somehow become synonymous with "plain". Sad face.

Silk almond milk is #winning: it has just as much calcium as dairy milk and is an excellent source of vitamin D, so there's really no reason to keep chuggin' cow juice anymore - leave that for the baby cows, plz. It's 100% VEGAN, no casein or lactose; and soy- and gluten-free. Silk cashew milk is the bomb.com too. Vega One is basically a multi-vitamin in the form of powder that comes from REAL FOODS. It has a great dose of greens, fibre, protein, probiotics and healthy fats. It tastes really good too: because it's already sweetened with stevia, I tend to add even more non-sweet veggies than normal to the smoothies I put it in. My bod thanks me. Enjoy!
