RAWSOME ~SPECIAL~ BROWNIES

:) :) Here we are again, friends. More chocolate goodness infused with GREEN goodness to ease anxiety, physical pain, and help with sleep, motivation and mental outlook. You can find my previous special brownie recipes here and here. To be clear: I am talking about marijuana. If it's not your thing, don't stress, babe. This recipe is delicious and nutritious (but most importantly: delicious) without the aromatic herby component. Use plain coconut oil instead, or CBD oil, which gives a bunch of cannabis benefits without the psychoactive effect that comes with THC.

Warning: don't have these when you're super hungry because you will want to eat more than one! They're perfect with a glass of cold almond milk after a meal. Unless you really wanna ~feel it~ ya knooow?

I apologize - agaaaain - for not having posted in ages. I have been busy and occupied with other projects, travel, people, and activities. Fun highlights: my computer crashed twice in two weeks and I had to get it repaired and erased both times, iPod Classic finally died on me so I am currently using this ancient piece of technology to listen to my music, I pulled a hamstring, went on a couple road trips, and finished a biiig project (more details coming soon). I am additionally recovering from a colourful buffet of mental and behaviour disorders. It's exhausting and confusing and in no way a linear graph of progress. Nevertheless, I hang in there and keep getting out of bed every day. It's a miracle, honestly. Meditation is helping hugely, when my anxiety is low enough for it to be possible. Weed helps too. Which is why: this recipe.

I have been devouring podcast episodes of Oprah's Super Soul Conversations and - before you laugh - it's amazing. A lot of the episodes are not interesting to me (sorry, able-bodied white cisgender male, I do not care about how you simply built your giant fancy company with gratitude and intention and by "believing in yourself") but I've found dozens that have blown. my. mind. The show is helping me get in touch with my own spirit and find the sacred in each moment. Yes, it's corny. But corn has a lot of fibre which is good for digestion, and it tastes yummy. Thanks to the podcast I am being reminded of the importance of mindfulness, self-care and humility. I find it easier to recognize and sense that all life is CONNECTED! I am not my body, my thoughts or my emotions: I am simply a piece of energy inhabiting a physical realm for an allotted period of time, made of the stuff of the entire multi-verse around me like every other creature that has ever existed. As Ru Paul says: there's only one of us here. We are all ONE! This acknowledgement contains fruitful implications for my own understanding of gender, morality, success and ego. It's a magnificent moment to be alive.

Enjoy the brownies, loves. XO

P.S. you might notice my photos are edited in a new way in this post. I am trying out a different style and seeing how it feels. So far, I am into it.

RAWSOME SPECIAL BROWNIES
Makes 12-24 servings

Brownies:
1 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup walnuts
1-2 tablespoons ground flax seeds, as desired
2/3 cup Medjool dates
1/4 cup raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3 tablespoons melted coconut oil
1/4 cup cacao powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Pinch Himalayan salt
6-12 10mg THC capsules, or whatever you want your dose to be*

Frosting:
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons cacao powder

2 tablespoons almond butter
1 tablespoon melted coconut oil
Almond milk, as needed

Topping:
Flaked salt
Cacao nibs

To make the brownies: throw the oats, walnuts, and flax into a food processor and process into flour. Add the rest of the dry ingredients and process evenly. Open up the THC capsules and empty their oil into the food processor along with the rest of the brownie ingredients. (IMPORTANT: remember how many capsules you put into the brownies, and their dose, so when you slice your brownies later you will be able to know how much THC is in each one and enjoy accordingly.) Process the mixture until you get a moist dough that holds its shape when pressed between fingers. If it's too crumbly, add 1-2 tablespoons of almond milk. If it's too moist, add 1-2 tablespoons more of flax seeds. If you'd like it sweeter, add 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup. Press the dough evenly into a lined baking pan.

To make the frosting: stir together the ingredients until smooth, adding almond milk as needed to get a spreadable consistency. Spread evenly over your brownies and leave in the fridge for a couple hours or overnight. Sprinkle on toppings if you like. Slice into however many brownies you want according to your dosing, and enjoy! These will keep in the fridge for 7-10 days.

*Feel free to use CBD capsules instead. They won't get you high but they still help with anxiety, sleep and pain!
